挑花是我国传统的手工技艺。

也是各地挑花艺人们代代相传的绝技。

不同针法制作出的挑花绣品各具特色。

比如花瑶人民长期生活在山深林密的环境中，湿热多蛇，

所以在花瑶挑花中蛇图案最为常见。

一针一线，饱含了花瑶人民图腾信仰下对生活的热爱。

生活中丰富的元素在刺绣艺人的巧手中“挑、钻、游、织”，

活灵活现地呈现在绣布上。

Chinese Cross stitching

Does an embroidery work have to be colorful, light and soft?

Artworks of Chinese cross stitching are far beyond that.

On a piece of plain linen, several vibrant roosters, stitched with white thread,look astonishinglyreal.

Chinese cross stitching, or “Tiaohua”,

is a traditional handicraft passed down through generations.

Embroidery using different stitch styles have their own features.

Cross stitches create double-sided intricate patterns, while complex stitches make vivid 3D patterns.

Elaborately stitched embroidery by girls can not only serve as decoration, but also be sent as a gift to loved ones,

representing romance and longing.

Diverse embroidery patterns mostly draw inspiration from daily life.

For example,

the Huayao ethnic group lives in hot and humid forests where snakes are often seen,

so the snake pattern is common in their embroidery.

Huayao people sew their totemic beliefs and passion for life into their embroidery.

Through exquisite stitching, artisans depict colorful life vividly in the fabrics.

Cross stitching, comprising 30 percent inheritance and 70 percent creativity,

has brought out the unique charm of traditional Chinese embroidery.
